New phone line in rented flat

My 86yr mother in law is moving into a flat in a complex and the manager has told us the phone is with Sky. Who do I contact about getting it connected. She doesnt need Broadband as cant use the Internet due to dementia.

@Choccymum if your mother in law wants to contine with a Sky landline, she can do so by signing up online, or by calling.

Note that a Sky landline is bundled with broadband. They (and most other providers) do not provide solely a landline service.

In most cases the telephone handset must be plugged into the standard phone socket at the back of the broadband Hub, not the wall socket.

There must be somewhere to get just landline and no broadband. My Grandmother (95) has this. She wouldn't have any use, or even know where to start with Broadband. She doesnt have a mobile either.

Seems ridiculous to expect someone to pay for a service they dont want or need!

Essentially no: PSTN switch-off (still scheduled for January 2027) means all voice telephone service has to be carried over broadband even if internet access isn't otherwise required at the address.

Well you learn something every day. Better get my gran sorted with a broadband then, no doubt she will end up paying more, its always the consumers especially elderly vulnerable ones who seemed to get ripped off by these so called 'enhancements'
