PAC code for landline phone

I need a PAC code from SKY to transfer my landline phone number to a new cellular provider.I have a new 5G home router and want to utilise the phone feature on it and it would be very useful to retain my existing land line number

@johnwm You require a line takeover which has to be done at the time you place the order with the new provider, not a pac code those are only for mobile phone numbers

@johnwm As advised by @SKY1992bf there is no PAC code for landlines, you should be able to port yopur phone number to another provider who provides a phone service over landline or a VOIP provider.

Your post mentioned you have a 5G Mobile service, as far as I'm aware these don't come with a landline service, perhaps you could fully explain what you're trying to do?

I'm not aware that's possible at all, given direct cellular voice service doesn't use terrestrial numbering. I'd think it's actually a number move to a VoIP platform, in which case the 'cellular' bit is irrelevant and a Porting Authorisation Code doesn't apply.

I agree. Switching a Sky landline to a cellular provider has been asked about previously, and as I recall, can't be done.

I suspect the confusion is partly generated by companies like this:

who perhaps aren't entirely transparent up front that they are a VoIP provider and the 'mobile' service is an app.

Many thanks for all your prompt replies.

From research on the web it seems it is possible to transfer a landline number to a mobile phone.They have the same 11 digit (including area code) format.

Just to clarify, I have no FTTP avaiable to me and for 4years I`ve had a a simple ADSL Sky package which is now quite old and slow and will shortly be made redundant. So, I`ve bought a 3 5G home router which works well and I can use it anywhere with coveage in the UK.

The router , like others I`ve seen, has an enabled telephone socket for use with any Dect phone, this also works well but because of the call costs with 3 at the moment I have an ASDA unlimited calls and texts SIM installed, £4 a month. I can also use my existing DECT set up of 1 base and 3 hand sets.

Sky have almost doubled the cost of the package so I intend to terminate my contract with them and use the above set up.

It would be very useful if I could port the existing landline number, which I`ve had with various providers for about 20 years .

The phone works well but using the number which came with the ASDA sim is not ideal as people could assume that it`s a mobile and try to text me etc.

Tomorrow I`ll speak with ASDA mobile and ask them.

@johnwm Your 5G hub may well have a telephone port, however and I can categorically state this, no UK 5G provider offers a landline over their 5G Broadband service, it's just not part of the setup and was never meant to be set up with a landline being a requirement.

The Asda sim is intended for Mobile phone usage not a 5G boradband hub, so I think you're getting this confused with it having a landline.

A proper 5G Mobile broadband sim is a Data Only sim.

If you wish to piggy back a phone service off of it would need to be a VOIP service.

I'll also say that reading your post it seems like you're wanting to port a landline number to a mobile sim, that can't be done.

Most companies doing this are VoIP providers, with voice calls to the ported number appearing in an app on the mobile device: there appear to be some specialist exceptions.
