Only thing i can think it may be water in the phone line, i must admit that i am on full fibre to the property, but i think I had something similar on the old copper phone line, i might be wrong as it was a few years ago, i would suggest you contact sky and ask if you can have an engineer visit to check the phone line

@Joan1954 have you got, or could you borrow a standard corded phone to rule out a fault with your cordless phone (Sky are likely to ask you to try it, if you report it to them)?

Thanks all Finally (after clicking on numerous buttons!) , it was found that fault was outside our property and Open reach will be needed to remedy
