Can't make outgoing calls

Since I have been obliged to route my landline through the Internet I cannot make most calls out and certainly not those that require you to press buttons for options, yet all the buttons work if I just randomly press them and I can receive calls. What is going on? I need to be able to make calls and I pay for this service

Can you explain further about not being able to make most calls? Can you make some calls? Any particular type of call ypu can't make!

Well, I haven't actually managed to make any calls despite having a dialling tone. The problem seems to be that some of the buttons don't compute when I press them and some of the buttons when pressed to make a call are just mute, and yet if I just press all the buttons one after the other I get the tone. By the luck of the draw I have sometimes managed to dial a main numbe but when I try to press buttons for options I get nothing. Phone worked perfectly when using phone socket: it is now plugged into the internet hub. I checked phone when engineer was here and seemed to work perfectly but of course I was just going through pressing all the numbers to get tones, not actually ringing somebody. I rely on my phone. I can receive calls.
