Landlines being kicked into touch

I'm very non-techie.

A friend has been talking about having to change her landline phone because she's been told all landlines are being withdrawn this year.

Sky Talk is my back-up to use if my mobile's not working. (Have never had to use it.)

Do I have to do anything? Will my current cordless landline phone still work?

I'm not tech-minded and would appreciate help and advice in plain English, please.

Not quite true, OFCOM, the regulator intends to end the old analogue phone service by January 2027.

Sky haven't announced their plans yet to switch existing landline customers to the new system. When they do, they'll explain what's happening and what you need to do.

In summary, you phone will then need to be plugged into a phone socket on the back of your broadband Hub. It won't work from a wall socket. Most existing phones, including DECT phoned should continue to work when connected this way.

Yes. Sky tend to refer to them as hubs.
