Do you have broadband from Sky because if so you can not cancel it but you can call them to be asked to be put on the PAYG package so if you make no calls then there are no additional charges.

The number to call Sky on is 150.

'Cancel an unused landline to save money' is misguided advice frequently found online: terrestrial broadband requires the data circuit provided by copper 'phone line' cable or optical fibre to function at all, and rental of this is typically part of the broadband subscription fee and cannot be removed.

As @caesarome indicates, what does make sense is to remove a bundled voice call add-on if one is in place but isn't being used: for Sky those would be 'Evenings & Weekends Extra', 'Anytime Extra' or 'International Extra'.

I have two lines into the house one for broad band the other for the land line. I dont use the land line, not in 7 years. I understand that i am paying a line rental fee of £19 a month but do not need it?

Sky Broadband and Sky Talk are bundled together on the same line. Line rental is included as part of your Sky Broadband service. You won't be paying any extra for Sky Talk, providing you don't have a call package.

Sky have never offered voice calls without broadband, so any such line would presumably be from a different provider.

If you have a live optical circuit which replaced a copper connection then there shouldn't be any billing on the latter.
