Landline "the person is on another call" message when people try to call me

friends have reported that when they tried to call me on the land line they got "the person is on another call" message, even when i'm not. I tried to call out and can't get a dialling tone. I've checked all the connections and plugged the phone directly to the socket rather than through the filter but its the same. I can't get hold of anyone in SKY via the suggested contact numbers, any ideas?

See if you can run this line test to see if a fault is found outside of your property and if something is found you can book an engineer repair, ignore the fact it says it will test your broadband:

Sky are aware of this issue which is affecting a large number of customers and it is under investigation.
