As they have the Sky hub. I am hoping it's just a matter of changing details with sky. Address etc

They aren't the same thing (each is proprietary to the particular ISP) but they do the same job. It's not possible to use a BT Hub where Sky is the ISP, or vice versa.

2. If we can use the Sky Hub for calls. I have read that we will need to buy a "Dect" phone ? If so can we still use the same telephone number via sky ?

The telephone number is linked to the broadband service rather than any particular telephone handset or DECT base station. DECT phones are just more convenient for most users because one must plug into the ISP router but others can be elsewhere.

3. Or if we loose the landline number. How do we get a new number for friends and family to call.

(Parents are not tech friendly .. Mum demntia & Dad hard of hearing)

Where a number isn't transferable between service providers, a new one is assigned to the customer automatically.

Note that for either Sky or BT to be able to provide broadband and voice service there has to be either a copper or optical data bearer cable at the property, or permission to have one installed as part of the ordering process.

A cordless DECT phone isn't a necessity but may be convenient. A standard corded phone will work equally well. Your parents may be able to keep their telephone number by carrying out a home move with Sky.

3. Or if we loose the landline number. How do we get a new number for friends and family to call.

(Parents are not tech friendly .. Mum demntia & Dad hard of hearing)

if your parents arrange a home move with Sky, and they can't transfer their telephone number, Sky will provide a new one.

Bear in mind that in the event of a power cut, or if their broadband service goes down, your parents will also lose their telephone service.

Many thanks in advance...
