Reconnect landline with old number

Hi guys,

I have recently disconnected my landline. It only disconnected last Saturday. I would now like to reconnect it with my old number. I called in but the advisor told me this wasn't possible.

I thought you could reconnect a landline with the same number within a certain time frame.

I'm afraid not. Once the phone service has been cancelled, the associated number returns to the pool of available numbers, from which Sky cannot retrieve it.

Under OFCOM'S right to port the provider should be able to port the within number 30 days after cancelling the service. After 30 days then it will be lost and returned back to pool

@cymru123 They are not porting a number though, they ceased a service and wnat to reconnect on the previous number which as already advised can't be done and isn't covered under porting arrangements,

If the number is still with Sky, which it should hopefully be within a certain amount time, a renumber request can be made to attempt to renumber to the one needed. Needs someone with knowledge to do it though.

After either switching providers or cancelling the services completely as part of the number portability the old provider should retain the number for a short period of time before releasing it so a customers new provider/current provider can request that number
