ONT box and phone

Hi, I moved into a new build this week and the ont box is in a cupboard under the stairs. It's working fine but my question is do I have to have my home phone plugged into it. There is not an electric socket there as the two close by are being taken up by the ont and the router. Also, the phone is not really much use in an under stairs cupboard!! Thanks in advance for any replies

@ALISON+ROSS2607 You home phone needs to be plugged in to the back of the Hub marked UK phone, oif your hib doesn't have this you need the updated version from Sky.

If you want the hub in a different room the option is to run ethernet from the ONT to hub (if this is possible)

It's a bit rubbish when that happens. Perhaps use a telephone extension cable from the router and place the 'phone in a more convenient location. You may also consider using a DECT handset, leave the base unit in the cupboard and the satellite handset elsewhere. For this option, you will need to use a regular power extension though so you have enough power outlets to cater for the Hub, ONT and base unit.

Unfortunately this seems to be common practice in new builds, despite its lack of common sense. As noted above, the most viable solution is to use a DECT phone set with the base station plugged into the Sky Broadband Hub.
