Thank you for the reply Mark39, appreciate your help. Yes, I presume I'm in the minority in wanting to use a different router from the Sky one!

Hi, I've just got Sky ultrafast, but found the sky hub to be pretty useless with the Wi-Fi signal, so I have replaced the sky router with a ASUS AX82U, which I have working and is a fast improvement on the Sky hub.

My question now is because I don't have a PSTN socket in my ASUS router, I cannot use my telephone to make or receive calls.

1. Is there away to get my old phones connected without using the Sky Hub

2. can I use a converter box\injector to connect to a network RJ45 port on my ASUS that can then make calls.

3. Would I need to change my current phone to a digital signal\VOIP phone to be able to use the talk service with my current telephone number?

Basically is there any way to connect a phone to my ASUS router and not the Sky one?

Would these work:

VoIP Phone Adapter for Voice-over-IP

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bewinner-Voice-over-IP-Internet-Interface-Protocol-UK/dp/B0816RSJ3S/ref=pd_lpo_2?pd_rd_w=jezPw&content-id=amzn1.sym.2d229339-2f42-4596-a90d-b81a4f52d6d3&pf_rd_p=2d229339-2f42-4596-a90d-b81a4f52d6d3&pf_rd_r=V54JC19CBY9YDTR4M9MF&pd_rd_wg=nmIHG&pd_rd_r=27211352-7e27-4ff3-8310-be37d4998d10&pd_rd_i=B0816RSJ3S&psc=1

You'll need to use the Sky hub for Calls

Thanks, GD1 for your message. Pretty annoying to be restricted to using only the Sky hub as I found it pretty useless with its Wi-Fi signal in my home compared to my ASUS router as it has so much more functionality with the built-in apps and Wi-Fi 6.

You could, of course, sign up to a third party VOIP provider and buy a VOIP phone.

I guess Sky pitches itself as a mass market provider, with the vast majority of customers content to use the router Sky provides, hence the built-in voice to VOIP converter.

BT do the same thing: ISPs really don't want to be talking users through configuring VOIP on routers they haven't supplied.
