Thank you very much. I have switched the 2 phones over, and now they both ring OK - no idea why, but will keep them as they are!

I have 2 handsets connected to the landline on the same line, and both have been working well. However, I have replaced one of the handsets , set it up as per the instructions, but it doesn't have a dial tone, which the previous one did. Also, the other phone is still working fine.

What do I need to do so I can use both phones?

That would rule out a problem with the socket, as a first step.
