I had my Sky connected by an engineer on 4th Sept. Although I can make calls from my home phone, I cannot receive incoming calls and the message says unrecognised number.h

I have keptt my old phone number and this is correct when checking with the six digit Sky phone number (can't remember what it was). Also calls from my home number to a mobile are showing the correct number.

Over the month, I have tried online chat and have phoned 4 times. Each time I have been told that the issue has been escalated and to wait 72 hours for the service to work properly. I have also been informed of the following issues, 'the technician didn't activate the line', 'I have a pre-active status on my account', 'I no longer have this status on my account so it will be working in 24 hrs', 'my old provider has not released the number'.

Each time I have been told they will call me to follow up 3 days later and of course I haven't had one phone call.

Only the last time I called did the technician say she didn't know when this would be resolved and just to wait.

Anyway, I haven't been able to receive calls for a month, have no idea of the actual issue or when this is going to be resolved. I also have no telephone service that shows on my Sky app. Is there anything else that I can do?

@Lusharpe unfortunately, no, I don't think there's anything more you can do.

We've occasionally seen reports here of delays in fully activating the phone service. They're usually resolved within a couple of weeks, but clearly yours is taking longer. Apart from the response suggesting your line is 'pre active', I suspect what you've been told is speculative, rather than factual.

Providing the issue has been escalated to the Nework(?) team, they'll be monitoring progress. I believe resolution involves liaising with Openreach. Typically Sky will only contact you when they have something to report

If it has been a few days since you last spoke to Sky, we can ask their messaging team to contact you via a private online chat, if you wish, to see if there's anything further to report.

Thank you for your reply. I last spoke to them on Wednesday. It's frustrating as I'm not sure when this will ever be fixed. I rely on my phone for business (we have no mobile signal at home) so this is having a massive impact and could potentially go on for weeks....

It just seems that it's being left to work itself out and I just have to wait!

@Lusharpe that's the long and short of it, I'm afraid. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly. I you're reliant on your landline phone for business, you might be better off with a business service provider which is likely to have better service levels.

Or have you tried WiFi calling on your mobile?
