Sky protect internet off

May be obvious, and I'm answering my.own question, but if the internet is off (fault, or disconnected from outside the house) would sky.protect cameras still work?

I'm assuming, no, but can't find a definite answer anywhere.

I suspect they have no significant local storage, so probably not.

It's important to understand that the 'Smart Tech Bundle' is NOT a security solution: it's a marketing promotion.

If your brodband connection went down, they would be off for any live viewing away from the house.
If the wifi is still on and working with the router, the kit will stay connected, locally you will still see all the devices and the sensors work. But the cameras will not record to the cloud.
You can add a micro sd card to the indoor camera to capture locally. Enter micro sd in the help section of the Sky Protect app to get the length of recordings possible.

I was wondering if they had that option, as it's pretty standard on such hardware.

Using Micro SD cards in your Indoor Camera

Your Indoor Camera will record and save automatically when it senses sound or movement, and the app is set to armed. These will be stored securely in your Sky Protect cloud. You can also use a Micro SD card. depending on the size of card you use, you can record a number of days of clips before having to record over them. Your Indoor Camera can take Class 10, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB Micro SD cards. Here’s how:

Insert your Micro SD card to the Indoor Camera, in the slot just below the power cable.
Make sure you fully insert the card until you hear a click.
Your Indoor Camera will beep twice when recording has started.

Your Indoor Camera will store the last couple of days of live stream footage. Record times are as follows:

Card Size Record Time
8GB 0.5-1 Day
16GB 1-2 Days
32GB 2-3 Days

You can then remove the Micro SD card at any time to view your footage on your PC, or Micro SD card reader. The Micro SD card footage doesn’t show on the Sky Protect app.

Good to know: Micro SD card clips will record even if your Indoor Camera loses internet connection.

I think it's also important to understand that if they're providing a product it should be fit for purpose. It appears to be (after 24 hours of use) absolute garbage.
