I was advised by Sky that they no longer support SkyHD boxes and I should get Sky Protect insurance.

Went to make a claim and was told by Domestic and General that only Sky can repair these boxes.

Unfortunately both were essentially incorrect.

The youngest Sky+ HD boxes are now a decade old and Sky no longer even attempts to repair them or provide replacements: they also don't permit the transfer of current Viewing Cards into boxes sourced elsewhere.

Given the circumstances you might be able to claim a small amount to put towards commissioning a private repair attempt (assuming you can find someone who would try) but essentially Protect cover for Sky+ has been pretty worthless for a while.

Hello,

I was advised by Sky that they no longer support SkyHD boxes and I should get Sky Protect insurance.

Went to make a claim and was told by Domestic and General that only Sky can repair these boxes. Seems I have been paying for insurance for no reason.
