Hello I was called by number free number 597 9843 and they said they were from sky and asked for my address and password to get me some protection I was just wondering if it is from sky

Domestic & General do carry out cold-calling to promote Sky Protect device insurance.

That number is a cold call number that Domestic and General use to call Sky customers to sell their additional warranties and now assume some of the Sky Protect services, like the device insurance.

Not a genuine number. The comments left above are not by sky. The caller asked for sort code, sky don't ask for sensitive account information over the phone

This number has called me 4 times over the last week, despite me telling them I'm not interested.

No, it's a scam, recorded this number for 10 years on whocallsme

Do not divulge any info. Got called today and they hung up when I tested their credentials. Said I wouldn't give my full password so they hung up.

This is not sky!!!!!!!! I just spoke to Sky after this number called me and they confirmed no one from Sky has tried calling me today and it is definitely a scam! So scary because they had ALL my details!!

This number called me today had a lot of my information already address email.. requested my sort code account number.. when I said I didn't feel comfortable he "reassured" me I told him I still do not feel comfortable giving out my details.. he then hung up sharply.

I don't trust the word of anybody who rings these days. There's so many scammers using spoofed numbers. I just say I'm busy and will call (insert company name here) later. Nine times out of ten it's a scam when I've checked with the company.

The BBC make a show called Scam Interceptors that's really educational about scams, the methods they use and how manipulative they can be. Not just old folk being scammed either but younger folk who took.

I just had a call from them. They have been asking me for last 4 digits of my card number and said I didn't set up any security questions. I know for a fact that I did. When I told them I'm not comfortable to give this info he said "suit yourself" and hung up.

One option in such circumstances is to give an incorrect response: if they accept this then you know for certain it's not Sky who are calling.

Realistically there's little point in doing so: that information is generally obtainable elsewhere and regularly circulated in both legitimate and dubious circles.

Sky are obviously selling our data because this scammer knew my surname and what product I'd recently purchased. What a joke Sky are for that.

Such activities are highly regulated and come with punitive penalties for non-compliance.

This is so strange, I spoke to them and was pretty sure it wasn't Sky. I rang Sky who confirmed it had rung me and is part of their insurance team.

The call with Sky felt less genuine than the original call!

They didn't even speak to me when I answered the call and hung up so like you I have blocked the number. In think you can alsonrelort the number as spam when you block it and your mobile network share the report that it is spam with other people in the same network when the number calls them
