Are Sky currently calling customers about features of the Q box and trying to sell equipment insurance?

It is difficult to tell from your post who it is that is calling but Sky Protect are known to make such calls however it is impossible to say for sure if it is them or not.

Thanks for the prompt response.

They said they were from Sky and knew the date we got our Q box. They asked me to confirm my name, address and postcode and talked me through some of the features of the Q box. They then asked if I was interested in insurance for my TVs, Q box etc , provided by Domestic and General (which I wasn't). To be fair, no other personal or financial details were requested, but I'm sure you appreciate, my first instinct was 'scam'!

Domesticand General do run Sky Protect so it could have been a sales calls for you.
