The Good Wife - moved to paramount?

I got Sky Glass at the end of December.

Since then, I've been working my way through The Good Wife on Alibi, which I couldn't get before on Freeview.

I watched S6 Ep15 last night.

Today, suddenly its not on Alibi, its on Paramount Plus. Which I don't have a subscription to. Am I missing something and there is some way I can still watch it on Alibi, or have Sky just done the dirty on me with one of the few good things I've found with this dammed Sky Glass nonsense and now I'll need to pay for it? With no warning that it was changing.

Also, if I do have to pay for it, do I need to take Sky Movies, or is there a cheaper Paramount Subscription. Goddammit it's not even a movie!

@Dawnf1 It is nothing to do with Sky, neither Alibi nor Paramount+ are owned by Sky. If that program is a Paramount+ program then Alibi may no longer have the rights to show it.

Paramount+ have Series 1 to 7.

Sky have not "done the dirty" as you put it.

@GD1 they surely knew it was coming and could have advised customers who were regularly watching that show (other providers manage this!). And it's a huge coincidence that, if that's the case, it's the same week that Sky got the rights to paramount.

Sky have no say at all over Alibi's programming or lack of it.

Since we're repeating ourselves I'll do it too. They must have known it was coming. There's no way that they don't know in advance which programmes are about to be removed. They could inform people.

@Dawnf1 You asked the question a reply was given, sky have no control over other broadcasters and their rights to programs it is as simple as that.

I'm not sure why you think Sky should inform you that Alibi no longer have the rights to a program, they don't do it for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc why would it be any different for any other non sky channel?

As already advised Sky have no control over them. Perhaps you need to be complaining directly to Alibi?

I just think it's yet another thing that they don't do well and they could do better with Glass. A new one of these comes up every month. They surely have access to the information to put a tag on these shows, and they could if they wanted to. If they wanted to be the best at customer service, they would. I guess they don't, and I suppose I had better get used to it since I'm tied in now.

I almost thought I had got used to it after 6 months, discovering things regularly about Glass that are annoying. But every so often something else comes along and takes me by surprise.

Whilst rights holders continue to reclaim content for their own streaming services this will cause confusion and frustration for many.

That said, you could argue that Sky Glass is doing exactly what it should in this scenario by offering you access to the content you want via the currently available method.

Last week that was Alibi, now it is Paramount+. I understand that is frustrating, but this isn't the first show this has happened to and it won't be the last.

Its a shame you didn't come across the show earlier, it started in 2009 and ended in 2016 and has been on multiple different channels and streaming services since.

As it happens, I did come across it earlier, about 2 years ago on alibi on my parents Sky Q when I was there visiting. I assumed I'd be able to continue watching as I knew I had alibi on freeview at home, but it turned out the freeview alibi and sky alibi were different, and I couldn't. So I searched every platform I had (Freeview, Prime, Netflix, Now TV) and it wasn't on any of them.

I have lived in places which couldn't have a dish since 2010.

So, when I got Sky Glass this year, mostly for formula 1, this was one of the first things I bookmarked and started watching.

Anyway. I started the free trial of paramount on Prime today and will probably pay 6.99 or whatever it is for a month or so, watch it all then cancel. I don't need to be giving Sky any more money, its expensive enough (especially when you have to pay the whole sports package when you only watch one sport!).

I will say that expiration dates in catch up and on Demand would be a useful addition, but how they would be communicated within the info displayed would probably lead to further confusion as it's technically still available just not with alibi but paramount.

You have mentioned the cost of Sky several times, yet you have bought their new product that requires at least a base monthly subscription to work as intended and (as they don't offer discounts), is the most expensive way to access Sky Sports over an F1 season.

NOW TV would have offered you access to the content you wanted, delivered in the same way, without a contract and (if you remember to cancel), on deals that will keep ongoing costs as keen as possible.

Or was F1 in UHD and Dolby Atmos that important to you?

By the way, there is a trick to get access to Paramount+ for free for longer, but it's probably too late now if you have already created an account..

@stereohaven you're incorrect. The Now TV content is not delivered in 'exactly the same way'.

I bought it for 11 years after I moved to a place where I couldn't have a dish (and yes, i always remembered to cancel at the end of the season), and it is a completely different service. It was only possible to watch sessions live, or at the times that Now TV chose to re-show them. There was no option to watch at a time of your choosing, pause TV, rewind and rewatch something. Not the same service at all and often frustrating when you lead a busy life where you want to manage your own schedule and are used to doing so having had Sky Plus for a decade.

That is why, when Sky released Glass, I was keen to get it.

Wanting the service it promised does not mean that I can't criticise the service being provided, when it's not as good as I think it should be. Customer care, and all that. They could do much better.

By "delivered in the same way" I meant over the internet rather than via satellite, but I take your point about the extra features on Glass.

That was the bit that was missing for me, I was trying to understand your choice of Glass.

Oh of that there is no argument, the problems with F1 on Glass is one of the longest threads in the forum!

Yes, agree, I was at Season 6 Ep 3 then couldn't download next one. Would've downloaded the whole series if I realised it was going to be withdrawn from Sky streaming!!

@Shirley+1968 it has appeared on All 4 today and showed up on my play now rail (even though I'd deleted it from my playlist as I was watching paramount via Prime.

So I've cancelled Paramount before the end of the free trial and am watching on All4.

Wow - can you imagine Sky informing you everytime a programme moved to a different channel, you would be getting an email every few minutes, yet alone the logistics of aggregating such content.

@Anonymous Wow indeed. Imagine my audacity, suggesting that Sky should be able to do something that other suppliers have done previously. Wow.

Incidentally, I wasn't suggesting an email. That was your assumption. On services I've used previously, a little indicator would appear on the series page maybe a month before it was removed, telling you when it would happen. Not that hard to do, presumably, if you have the information. Then people watching regularly and working their way through a series would know to crack on and get through it in time. I've done it several times myself, precisely because of this service.
