F1 coverage just gets worse. Getting to point of thinking not worth it.

I been with sky for nearly two decades. I also had the f1 channel since it started. As a massive f1 fan I was so looking forward to the professional product as sky done with football. However this season the coverage been absolutely rubbish. Not from a technical standpoint but the coverage. You either get several repeats of a boring start at each race during the race. Therefore losing several laps of the race itself. Or as today, had loads of shots of cars in garages or pit walls, whilst there actual cars on track, some these cars top runners.

The worst today however was the end of Q3. Leclec just put his car on provisional pole.The shoot out was bound to be exciting, as red flag meant drivers basically had one lap to get it right. So what did we get, with the world champion on a fast lap, Suddenly the camera goes to the start finish line. My household thinking, this going be be really exciting.. Then suddenly the camera changes to a camera angle in car. All we see is the world champions helmet. No action, no view of the car on track, just that shot. With the commentors shouting how the world champion was back on pole. These are just a couple of repeated poor coverage for F1. What is the point. Why should a pay for a channel that cannot follow the action. It a joke.

PS probably not the place to complain but hey there is no where to complain. This worse than a technical issue, this is your ongoing joke of coverage. Plus can be backed up by watching this terrible coverage.

@Tref You do realise that during the actual sessions Sky are not in control of picture direction, that's solely down to formula one management, so you need to take your frustrations out on them not Sky

@Tref True , but Sky take the actual session coverage from the world feed provided by FOM (and have done since day one iirc) which they have no control over

How many times have we been watching a footie match being played in foreign lands and the commentator says "we can't show you a replay of that incident because the broadcast company aren't showing it." This is similar.

My frustrations go to who I pay the subscription for,. If sky using that old chestnut, that they have no control, then everyone who has problems needs to contact sky, so that sky you provide to the users the program can take it up with who you quote. I dont care if sky are a third party, they advertise and provide this coverage. If the coverage is dire, sky needs to know so they can contact the people who are in control.

Well to be honest, I been in countries and the footie coverage better and cheaper. But hey if lived in a country where it poor I would contact that provider. That provider advertises the program. I pay the provider. They pay for the service from liberty etc,. Therefore I should be able to complain about this service to the provider. They can take it up with the powers that be. But I haven't noticed a football penalty shoot out and suddenly just as the penalty being taken the camera move so can only see the opposite goal.

Sky's Viewer Relations are the people to complain to, if you're unhappy with the coverage and want your voice heard.

Well then sky can contact whoever provides the coverage and complain. But hey how will they do this if no ones let sky know of the problem. However mute point my legal contract with sky. Not with the governing bodies licence company. Sky promote this rubbish. Sky can sort it out.

@Tref Correct, we are primarily a customer helps customer forum only, Sky won't necessarily see comments on here, you have been provided with a email address to contact sky directly

@Tref I do agree that some of the coverage is sometimes all over the place. I recall last week at Silverstone at some point during qualifying, Hamilton did a storming lap less than a tenth off lead and they showed nothing of it, but instead a Verstappen slow down lap. .but hey-ho...nothing much Sky can do about it.

The holder of each F1 race franchise is responsible for commissioning a television feed, typically captured by camera and operator resources from a local company but produced by FOM, which is then made available to global distributors as the 'World Feed': there simply isn't room trackside for multiple camera teams from the forty-plus individual national F1 broadcasters (with more every year) to position themselves, and the logistics for that additional circus to migrate around the planet would be impossible. This is how worldwide distribution of sporting events has to work: you can certainly complain to Sky, but they can only request 'better' event live capture as part of their next round of negotiation with Liberty Media, not provide it themselves.

As others have pointed out the pcitures broadcast are nothing to do with Sky. Even if the coverage was moved to another broadcaster then it would be exactly the same.
