Router keeps resetting to default

Hi,

In recent months my router has started resetting itself back to the default set up losing connection to all my smart devices. It is doing it on its own, now happening around once a day. Very frustrating as have to then go back into the Wi-Fi to reset the name of the SSID back to what my devices recognises, This evening it went completely dead with no Internet connection and had to recover by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds and waiting 5 mins.

Can anyone help? Is the router faulty and on the way out?

We have sky fibre.

@Nicola78976I take it you have tried the router in another plug socket to make sure it is not a faulty socket. But from what you have said it does sound like the router is faulty.

I have an Ethernet cable connecting the router to a Powerline (plugged into a seperate plug) that feeds internet across the house.

@Nicola78976Reason I am asking is there is a lot of collisions on the LAN side for the short period of time.2412 of them when the router stats was taken.

Yes, I suspect taking internet over power cables through the house is less stable. We have several powerlines throughout the house. However, when we have an issue it is the router and even a direct LAN connection with a laptop earlier did not enable me to connect.

Any thoughts on how best to proceed assuming we still think it is the router?

@Nicola78976It does very much sound like the router is having issues. Give Sky a call and they should send out a replacement.

Just dial 150 when asked the nature of the call say " Technical ", if you are asked to give a mobile number do this, but DO NOT hang up and stay on the line, you should then be dropped into the queue to speak to an advisor.
