Thanks, although it is a relief to hear that and I hope its true, I thought the same, that the app doesn't require the use of those phone facilities and therefore is not a risk but as I said, I noticed the play icon appearing randomly on my screen and then on research found out that this could, in fact, be done. I never install dubious apps, I hardly have any apps at all, just the necessary ones, but I really thought the sky go was safe. Its only after having my google account hacked twice and a Facebook account ( which I don't use at all anymore) that I'm concerned about these things. Plus there were unknown devices and other authorisations. I'm hoping its all nothing and just my paranoia and probably is, I wouldn't bother sky with a suspicion anyway, I don't think they'd entertain it either. Technology just freaks me out a bit at times, there's too many dodgy people around to relax with it !!

I'm sure you're right. Thanks again

Hi,

I doubt I'll get much advice about this here but I'll give it a go. I have noticed odd things happening on my phone to do with the sky go app. First of all I have to say that I have had security issues in the past to do with my google account being hacked, and other accounts. I took the sky go app off my phone and it reappeared. I noticed that the sky go app play icon was randomly appearing on my phone screen. Then I obviously realised that the app had been re installed. I checked manage devices and found a list of things authorised things I had no idea about. One was an unknown device. Another was firebrand something or other. I should have took more notice of what was ticked but I just deleted them all, changed my password and took the app off my phone again. I have read that my phone can be spied on through this app. Camera, microphone, WhatsApp, other personal data. ?? Im so sick of fighting for my privacy !! How do I find out what is going on with my sky account, they just seem to be too busy and chaotic to care about anything like that. You can't get to speak to anyone and when you do, they would never look into anything like that.

That seems unlikely as Go doesn't request or require access to those phone features (although many others apps do). However if you use an Android phone and then have access to your Google account compromised, or install dubious apps, you've potentially got a spy in your pocket: that's an inevitable side-effect of this technology.

It's more likely that your Google account has been compromised rather than Sky Go. I would recommend using another device tochange the password & turn on 2 step authentication.

Thanks, but my google account only has my own device listed on it and the sky go app has unknown devices connected plus the firebrand thing (whatever that is) . I've deleted them, and I'll set up again from another device as you say.

Thanks for reply, 👍

Go as an app is going to be as secure as the platfor it's installed on: if someone else gets access to a login for the Sky account then that's different, because they can use it for their own instance of Go elsewhere.

Have you checked the App Store for Firebrand? There's a Gym Firebrand app.

In general it seems to be an online accelerated training course.

I'm sure I've got the name confused with something !! Where you go to manage devices there was a list of authorised items and I didn't recognise any of them. Unknown devices and Fire something it probably wasn't Firebrand. As I said I just unchecked them and changed my password. I should have took a screenshot, I didn't think. I'm sure it's nothing anyway, I'm sure I'm just paranoid after past experiences. But do you know why the sky go play icon keeps on randomly appearing on my phone screen even having not used the app for months?

I don't mean a small thing in the corner, I mean it covers half of the screen. I want to know how to stop this please? Is it just an ad?

Thanks for your help

I'd need to see a screenshot of the Sky app/pop up.

I wonder if you saw Amazon Fire device rather than Firebrand?
