Disney+ & SKY Q : please help me <3

Hi guys,

I would like to know if, when you select a Disney+ content on the Sky Q home and click on Play, it directly goes on the Disney+ app's player, or does it play in the Sky's player?. And then, maybe you know, if you go back, does it go back on Sky Q or Disney+ app ?

I have the same question for Netflix, Peacock & Apple TV+. I guess this is the same mechanism.

And, if by any chance you know if these platforms are also integrated in the same way in Sky GO ?

Hi @White75

Q is just Hosting the Apps just as they would operate on your TV or other devices.

There is no Sky Player and any App content selected will open the relative App on the Q box.

Ie Selecting Netflix content will open the Netflix App etc.

Netflix, Apple TV and Disney plus require subscription unlike the Peacock App which is included in Q at no extra cost.

Hi @White75 Disney+, Netflix etc. will be launched from the home page and play within the App. Back up in within the App, to get back to Sky you have to exit the App but it does go back to the place you launched it from on the Home page.

Very clear, thank you so much for your help !! Is that right that you can also access the disney+ app by selecting a disney+ content which is highlighted in the Sky HOME (alongside the Sky content) and press play ? So you have two ways to access disney+, via the "apps" rail or tab, or via the content (highlighted in Home or shows in the search results) ?

Correct @White75

Assuming of course that you have Disney plus subscription .

In addition you can say Disney plus using voice control to open the App

Thank you @MightyQuinn ! When you say "you have to exit the app", do you mean you just press return until the app shuts down ?

I'm interested to understand what happens in this case :

- You have a disney+ content highlighted in the Sky Home (let's say, "Encanto")

- You click on the Encanto thumbnail >> you are now in the Encanto's program page (still in Sky environment). Here you have a "play" button, you click on it and the content launches directly on Disney+ app (if I'm right)

- From the disney+ player, you press return on your remote. Are you now : in the Encanto program page (on disney+), in the Disney+ home page or in the Sky home page or Sky encanto's program page ? Haha if by any chance you have the answer it would be great but I'm aware it is a very precise question 😅

Hi @White75

In most Apps you have to press Exit multiple times until you are asked if you want to leave the App (and return to Sky menus).

In Netflix to leave the App you can go the bottom of the left hand menu to Exit.

You can press Home on the Q remote to return directly to the Q home menu.

However here when doing this it sometimes crashes the Netflix App and so I always use the Exit method to close Apps.

Sky would presumably prefer users not to notice any difference between those options, as part of their aim to become the primary streaming content agregator and multi-service subscription platform in the UK. I suspect individual streaming service app designers don't necessarily agree...

If you search for a TV show on the Sky Platform and search function and it is on Disney+ it will show on Sky's Searches but when you click into it that will open up the Disney+ App through your Sky Q Box 😃
It is the same for Netflix, Apple TV, Netflix etc.
Then if you do press 'Back' it will go to the home screen for the app you are in and if you press the Home button on your Sky Q remote this will bring you out of those apps and back onto the Sky Q home screen
