Freeview is a live broadcast service delivered from terrestrial transmitters and received via an aerial into a Freeview receiver (either a separate box or a digital terrestrial aerial socket on the back of your television set).

You may be thinking of Freeview Play which is likely to be an app on your television using your broadband connection.

Neither of these is related to Sky.

Thanks for that. I do have a brand new attic Arial and connection box behind the TV. I will hook it up. I also wondered if you could use your Samsung Smart TV with BOTH Sky Q and Broadband TV (Which what the other TVs in house have via Ethernet Cables in the wall. Plug in TV go to set up and he presto about 250 channels.

If you hook up an aerial and connect it to your broadband you may be quite surprised at just how many channels you can get.

I have Samsung TV+ on one of my TVs and it gets all the standard Freeview & Freeview HD channels, as well as a multitude of other channels such as CNN, PBS America, Reuters, Fashion TV, Motor Racing, etc - all streamed from the internet and available via their own EPG.

The Samsung TV also has all the regular streaming apps such as iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, Disney+, Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, etc. so you can connect directly to them without ever having to turn on your Sky Q box, and they're often better quality too.

The input from Q arrives over an HDMI socket into the television: it doesn't care what your broadband is delivering into apps hosted by the smart operating system that Samsung provide.

The main thing to note is that you'll need to use the televisions own remote control handset to access services hosted on it: a Q remote paired for volume control can't do that.
