Poor Design Beyond Belief!

Why does my new box keep turning on the fans at full, speed, even when off?

If the box has temperature problems then it is too small.

Why does my hard drive keep loudly ticking even when not in use?

Having paid for the box, surely I dererve a well designed package that includes a quiet box in my lounge.

It's not even as though Sky have attempted to use a solid state drive, they appear to have used drive that is MUCH louder that the previous design that was whipsper quiet and designed for that reason.

I have been with Sky for 19 years and even the box with the known power supply design issue that had to be repaired every 6 months was not as bad as this.

If I want a grandfather clock ticking in my lounge, then I will buy one!

Totally not fit for purpose!

Going back to Sky+. If they won't oblige then going elsewhere.

How can youi scroll throuigh something without having to wait ages.

On the Sky+ you can enter a time and just jump to it.

So how do you do this on Sky Q?

Loss Of Programme

As Sky still don't have an EPG that works with shiftde timings, on Sky+ you can set an additional start and end time. I have alrteadt had two programmes that have missed the end. I know I can then download and watch the endings, but the fact is I shouldn't have to. It spoils my viewing and also makes having a live TV box worthless.

So how do I add extra times in Sky Q?

Afraid you cannot.

With Programs that are liable to overrun (such as Sports) best set the next program to record as well

Unfortunately you can't. The best you can do is record the next programme

It is one of the features not implemented n SKY Q - you may find a few others.

SKY Q has been built from the ground up and not everything on SKY HD has been implemented on SKY Q

How do I stop the display of TV programs and sopund when having to keep pushing the miriad of buttons to get where I want. If I wanted to hear a show I don't even watch I would select it. This is just too 'in your face' to be true!

You cannot stop the video but you can always mute the audio

I really can't understand Sky' view that having to push twice as many buttons than the previous box to do the same thing makes it a better experience.

I also cannot understand why much of the previous functionality has been removed.

I also can't understand why Sky believe I should pay to be bombatrded with the material thay are pushing. If it was free ,then you could argue it was fair enough, but I am paying for this!

@anniebody SkyQ is very different from Sky+, but it's the system it is, and after time you will get used to it's setup.

I am afraid for some of it you have to undferstand that 'SKY know best'

I know it may seem like a big culture shock but there are some good things with SKY Q - voice control is very useful.

We can also help you find your way - although as you have found some things we won't be able to though

I think I should, however, manage expectations.

SKY are extremely unlikely to let you revert to SKY HD - although they may let you cancel SKY completely

If anyone read a manual beforehand they would become aware of just how poor the operating system is, and just how limited the user options are.

Does anyone know of a non-Sky manual being written by anyone?

There is lots of interactive help on the Q box.

The three dot button on the remote has a Help section.

Also pressing the Question mark button on the remote (?) once or twice will bring up help on any section you are in.

Some prior research on your part would have perhaps given you some insight to what SkyQ is before making the switch.
