mini boxes regular lose connection from main box signal

I have FTTP 250 mps signal. Most days, at least once, my Sk Q box loses connection on my 2 mini boxes.

It starts with a intermitent loss os connection to my mini boxes and eventually loses all connection.

The only way to fix, is to re-boot my main Sky Q box but. not feasable to rebbot the system, at least once every day

Hi @flyinggraham You may need a SKY booster situated between your main SKYQ box and your Mini boxes to boost the wifi signal from the main SKYQ box to each Mini box.

The booster is supplied free from SKY, and will usually need an engineer visit to install.

You will need to call SKY and talk to an advisor to arrange.

Thank you for your advise, In addition to my FTTP connection, I also have 3 BT Wholehome nodes, all my Sky Q equipment, boxes are hard wired from Wholehome node to GB hub. I have a minimum 100 mps over the entire house. And consider a wi-fi extender would probable make no difference, and possiblly conflict with my mesh set up?

What do you think?

Agreed.

Which discs do you have? Q doesn't play nicely with ethernet connections to the original white discs.

Hi,

BT Wholehome white disc, around 2/3 years old.

Had Sky Q around a year and Its been OK until a few weeks ago, just a recent problem.

Do you suspect the Q box, or my mesh set up, would it be better on Wi-Fi, instead of ethernet?

You can't use wifi to connect via your mesh unless you're on SkyBB. Has to set up its own mesh or trick it via ethernet like you have been.

I am having this exact same issue. It's very frustrating. Rebooting the main box does not make a difference

Thaank you for your advise and update.

Are you stating you suggest the only possative fix, is to remove the mesh and replace with Sky Wi-Fi boosters?

I dont have the benifit of being able to go with SBB, I live in a sleepy village with copper line 1 mps option, or rural GB broadband FTTP up to 900 mps, which Sky do not curently operate.

It doesn't use the mesh. Leave that alone (but make sure it's on a different channel than the sky one)

and if that doesn't work because your boxes are too far apart to form their own mesh then use ethernet or powerlines.

or you could try the newer BT discs which I believe don't have the quirks of the earlier ones with skyQ connected into them over ethernet. I haven't tried this, I used powerlines from minis to Q then 2.4GHz wifi from Q to mesh.
