PS5, Sky Q and Soundbox

Hello all,

I am due to get a PS5 delivered tomorrow and wondered how best to set up with my current Sky setup.

I have a Sky Q box and Sky Sound Box currently connected thus;

HDMI from Sky Q to HDMI out on Sound Box
HDMI from TV to HDMI in on Sound Box
Optical Cable from Optical Out on TV to Optical In on Soundbox

The TV is set to internal speaker [volume zero] and Optical

I also have a Wii connected but not 100% sure that will stay. I need to turn off the Sky Q box and just use TV audio if we want to use this, otherwise I get both the Sky sound and the Wii sound.

Ideally I can set up so I dont need to change any settings and when am using the PS5 it will work through the Sound Box and not just the TV. Any ideas?

Hi @ccotterill

I assume you don't quite mean what you say

I assume you mean an HDMI from Sky Q to HDMI in on your Soundbox

then an HDMI from your TV to HDMI out on your Soundbox

Assuming that's your setup, just go PS5 straight to your TV by HDMI and listen to the PS5 by selecting Optical on your Soundbox (with TV volume at zero)

Yeah, that's right! I'd just seen the two pink ends of the different cables and got confused!

It's exactly as you describe it.

The solution sounds simple enough so I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
