sky sound box not turning off

sorry not had chance to look through all posts just hoping for a quick answer. So just set uo the devialet/sky soundbox and set up so all controlled by sky q remote. All works well, when I press the sky logo on the sky q remote - qbox comes on sound box comes on and tv comes on, all good. when I come to turn off everything press power button on skyq remote-skyq box goes off, tv goes off, soundbox stays on. So is that right the sky q remote turns on soundbox and controls volume but will not turn off the soundbox?

Hi @steve103103 🙂

Try resetting your Sky Soundbox:

Switch off the power to your Sky Soundbox at the wall & wait for the lights on the front panel to go off
Press and hold down the power and volume down buttons together. Don’t release them
While you’re holding down the buttons, switch the power back on at the mains
Keep holding down the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds until the red light on your Sky Soundbox comes on and then changes to amber
Release the power and volume down buttons
After 5-10 seconds, your Sky Soundbox will make the boot-up sound and turn itself back on. The light will go green

Then try & turn off your Soundbox with your Sky Q Remote.

Thanks for the reply.

Tried that several times Sky q remote will still not turn off soundbox but performs every other function. Also why does the soundbox light go to amber instead of red when i turn the power off on the soundbox itself?

The soundbox by default goes into standby (amber light) for a period before fully turning off (red light) - not too sure what the time period of this is though.

Thanks for the answer to why the light doesnt go immediately red but still no answer as to why the sky q remote will turn the soundbox on but wont turn it off?

I've never been able to find a way of using any remote to make the soundbox turn off (red light)

I just use my soundbox remote to turn it to standby (amber) at night and then even if I forget, it goes red 20 minutes later

I think it's just the way it's been set up.

Like a lot of audio/ visual things, Apple, Amazon, Sky come to mind, some engineer somewhere in conjunction with a focus group decides how things should be and that's what we get

I've never understood why more flexibility isn't built in

I've descovered that if I use the skyQ remote to turn everything off `sky q and TV go to stand by straight away but soundbox stays on for a little longer (not sure how long ) before switching itself off. Don't know why Sky could not have told me that or put it in the instructions.

Having had difficulty with equipment waking up etc and had both soundbox and q box replaced to get it functioning correctly, I have discovered the flooring;

If the soundbox is unresponsive to the remote, the hdmi lead to tv has to be disconnected in order to gain functionality of soundbox. Plugging hdmi back in usually gets it responding again. I am assuming this is an issue with signals from tv to soundbox.

If I try turning speaker power off with soundbox remote, it will not respond again until I disconnect tv hdmi lead. I think this is a problem when you turn your tv and sky off and the sound is still on. You then try to power off speaker and it doesn't like it. I would recommend when turning TV off to mute sound with sky remote then hold power button for 4 seconds which should turn off both tv and sky. It all wakes up ok when this is done. If power button held down any less time this only turns off sky box.

I find that I have to hold down the sky remote off button for about 3-4 seconds then the tv and sky Q go off, then tap the off button once more and the soundbox goes off! Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been holding power down for 3-4 seconds and turning tv and sky off then muting sound but your suggestion works. Same amount of button pressing.
