How does the sky mobile unlimited use of sky go work?

My boys all have sky mobiles and when we went away in the summer used them to watch programmes in the sky go app, however this used their data which I had been led to believe it wouldn't with them being on Sky mobile. Can anyone tell me is it only specific programmes/channels that don't use data or did we do something wrong somehow?

I know this sounds a silly question but what makes you say the phones are using data when using Sky Go, how are you monitoring it, via the phone's own settings or the MySky app ?

They ran out of data whilst watching sky go and it stopped playing the programmes they were watching. I was not monitoring it at all as I assumed it wasn't using their data, but when they suddenly have none left after only watching sky go there is no other option for how it got used.

I think this is thge issue because you need to make sure they have at least 50mb of data to use Sky Go for free as per this:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-mobile-watch

You need at least 50MB of data available in your allowance to use Sky Mobile Watch. If you haven't got enough, you'll need to add more before you can watch Sky content.

They had almost 1gb wach when they started watching so it is definitely not that.

Hi @KB2015 could they have updated anything on their phones ? Did they stream anything on YouTube etc ? Any music ? Does the data monitor on their phones show anything. If not then you would need to call sky for help.

You said they ran out of data so clearly something being used is using it which is why in turn that Sky Go stopped working. Have you checked the settings on the devices to see what has used data, apart from Sky Go as it will show as being used but will not be "charged" by Sky.

Everything else was shut off and a couple of emails coming in would not use almost 1gb of data in one evening. They don't have social media and were not receving whatsapp messages and as they were watching sky go were not streaming music. This is why I don't understand how the data got used up.
