Samsung TV and Sky+HD - universal remote no longer working

I have a Sky+ HD box (model DRX890) and a Samsung Crystal UHD TV with a universal remote.

When we initially set up the tv the universal remote worked with the sky box and it was great. But for the past couple of days it hasn't been able to control it. I have to use the sky remote to use sky.

I have tried recalibration the remote - the picture shows in the little screen but it doesn't change the channels. When I eventually have to search for model number it finds the model but still won't change channels.

I have restored factory settings to sort it out but all that does is end up with the sky source being 'unknown' - although the sky remote will still work.

Anyone got any other bright ideas for how to fix this?? Getting a bit desperate. Or if anyone knows why this is happening then do let me know.

Nothing has changed at the Sky end, and as your Sky box still responds to the Sky remote, it can only be an issie with the Samsung remote. Either a fault or an update maybe?

My SKY all in one remote has stopped working on my Samsung 55" Q95T tv. I've swapped the HDMI cables. Reset the remote and updated my SKY box still it won't work. I have to use the SKY remote which defeats the purpose? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not a Sky issue if the Sky remote still controls the box normally. Maybe a question for the Samsung forum, if there is one, or Samsung support?

Samsung team are lost. Hopefully they can find an update as I said previously it defeats spending extra in my tv for that remote 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unfortunately I have not yet found an answer but I do intend to phone Samsung later in

the week. Really poor that our remote doesn't fully work given our outlay.

Please let me know how it goes. Im beginning to think it is just the sky box that has abandoned the functionality for some reason. I have an alternative sky box that i intend to try later today. Will update you how it goes.
i figured out a couple of things that could help:

1. To find out the model number look on the sky+ app if you have it. It is under connected boxes.

1. On the SS tv when offered to search just put in one character, a D for example. You then get all the DRX models of sky box.

Sky boxes just respond to the remote signal. If it's working ok with the Sky remote, then there's no fault.

I thought it was using the HDMI cable since there is no way to make the samsung remote behave differently. I am sure this is how it works due to the questions and process of setting it up.
so tv receives a signal from samsung remote, coverts that to signal for your box and sends it off down the hdmi cable? No?

Further update for those with this issue. Swapped out my sky box with one from another room and it didn't connect to universal remote either.

After all this i have factory reset both my tv and two sky boxes. No one is happy that all their recordings are gone and i will be sleeping in the shed tonight.

I have factory reset everything in the house. 2 sky boxes and the Tv.

not for this forum but i cant work out if the remote control for the SS tv is controlling the sky box via infrared or through the hdmi cable. If you get it working can you cover the front of your sky box and see if it is receiving IR...

Apart from re setting my HD box I think I've tried everything the same as you.

I did think that the tv controlled the sky box via hdmi.

IF I get anything to work I'll post.

So far as I know Sky boxes have no remote control functionality via its HDMI socket. Only the IR receiver and the RF2 socket allow for remote control.

I agree, there are three ways to control the box

Via IR to the receiver on the front of the sky box
Via the Wi-Fi/Ethernet network connection (sky+ App, Amazon Alexa etc...)
Via RF2 using a magic eye
