Press standby on your Sky remote, then switch off or unplug your Sky box at the mains socket.

2. Check there's no lights on the front of your Sky box.

3. Plug in and switch your Sky box back on at the mains. Check the power light has returned.

4. Wait at least 4 minutes and press Sky to switch on your Sky box.

If everything looks to be working okay, please check the following: View channels and catch up TV according to your TV subscription. Try to play/pause and fast forward/remind a programme. Set a recording/download and to play/pause etc to ensure these functions are working okay.

If this doesn't work, then please try these steps. Be aware you will lose all recordings, downloads, series links and personalized settings by completing a front panel reset.

Front panel reset

1. Switch off your Sky box at the mains socket and check the power light has gone out.

2. Switch any other connected devices, such as your TV, to standby and then turn them off at the mains.

3. Press and hold the left and right buttons on the top of the Sky box.

4. With the buttons still held down, switch on the box at the mains socket.

5. Hold the buttons until you see the Sky panel LED flash on your Sky box, then press the select button on top of the Sky box.

One the last step is complete the process will take a few mins to complete, the Sky box cannot be used at all during the front panel reset. Once complete, please try viewing a channel as normal, record a programme, download, and use the play, pause, fast forward and remind functions as normal.

If the above steps don't work. It is possible there's a fault with your Sky dish not receiving a sufficient signal so your Sky box is showing this error. Do you have your own mini dish or are you connected to a shared communal TV system?

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have had very poor service for the past two months. No satellite signal intermittently and now I get the message 'your box is still initialising, please return in a short time to use this feature'. I've followed the instructions as given on the Sky + trouble shooting but to no avail. Service came back for a few hours this afternoon but is gone again and I get the same message, 'your box is still initialising etc'. Can anyone advise as to what I can do or what the problem is? Thanks.

(Even if it wasn't, you'd do a Full System Reset from the menus).

Far more likely to be an issue with your dish/LNB or cabling causing the No Signal issue.

If you have your own dish, then call Sky to arrange an engineer to check your system over.

If you are on a communal dish, you need to contact whoever looks after it.

Hi,

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I have tried the first process i.e. switching off at the mains etc but it doesn't work. In truth I don't want to lose all of the recordings I have so am reluctant to try the second option. When I check the signal I see the lock indicators 'not locked' so I guess there is a problem with the satellite (my own) or the box. I will have to book a visit from a technician to check it out. Thanks again for all your help.
