Red button on Sky+HD Box not working

For the last 6 months I have not been able to access the red button services on my SkyHD box. In particular, the Sky Sports services and the BBC Red Button service. The red button no longer appears on screen as an option and pressing my red button on my remote does not work either. I had no previous issues with it.

Can you help please?

Additionally, I have rebooted the box a few times but this hasnt worked.

Same here and its getting annoying every time I try checking the community forum for sky it keeps telling me I'm not authorised to look at those links intended as examples of red button problems.

They keep talking about a fix which seems to have started at least a couple of years and despite some saying their box is now working they don't seem to want to address the current problem.

Its looking more like every time they "fix" this it raises another problem with older boxes as if they haven't been taken into account when they completed that fix.

Any chance they might reply here?

Just the usual red button picture where it says please wait and nothing else happens.

Ok. All I can add is that it's working fine here on channels 401, 402 and 403.

Both times this has happened have been either before or during Spanish football matches using the red button.

It's never been noticeable before then.

So far anything on the red button is unavailable ironic given they are showing those sky sports matches on 4 different channels you'd think they'd put different matches on each channel like they used to instead of this!

(401, 403 and a couple in the 850 or so channel)

For example, from time to time, Sky Sports are showing some Championship matches on the red button. I am not even given an option to press the red button. It just does not appear. This was never a problem before. Sky have changed something that affects Sky+HD boxes ? I wish they would actually clarify rather than keep going around in circles. We pay a premium for Sky Sports and these services.

Same with me tonight (14/09/2021) only I have a sky+ box. I pressed the red button and just got the 'Please Wait' message. What's the issue?

By chance, after months, I have now found a solution.

The red button as usual did not appear on screen, as it once used to. However, by going to the appropriate channel and pressing SELECT on that channel it brings up a blue menu to enable you to choose the appropriate game on the red button. Success !

But this should work with the red button, Sky ?

Yesterday my mum managed to get the red button working.

I'm not sure if this was a one off, but figured I better mention this in case this is their fix.

Should be some matches later today to test this out.

There's obviously a problem. I've not been able to access the red button on Sky Sports 401 or 403 for the last 2 evenings. 'Please wait'. Done all the workarounds. No joy, rebooted at least half a dozen times doing the switch off and wait 4 minutes thing. Sky+ HD box. Sky, how do I resolve this. Do I need to call you? Checked my settings, they're all ok, even reset the network and reentered my password. Still the same.

If you press Select twice while watching the current Stoke - Barnsley game, does it give you a list of games to choose from?

EDIT Only works on Channel 403 (not 401)

Cheers @oj01, unfortunately not, pressing select twice just tells me that I'm watching Stoke v Barnsley. The red button is there and goes to the screen that says 'sky sports football please wait' but never loads the choices

That's very odd.

For me, pressing Select, while watching the game on Ch 403, brought up the Search & Scan Banner (as usual). Pressing Select again, while the banner was on screen, brought up a list of the other games, from which I could either View or Record. All worked very seamlessly, without the usual delays when using the red button route. Very quick to then repeat the process to switch between games.
