Sky Q setup wireless access points

Here's what I want to do, but will it work?

1. Ethernet cable from sky router via Poe switch to WAP (a) , then Ethernet from WAP (a) to main Q box.

2. Ethernet cable as above to separate WAP (b), then link to Q mini box via Wi-Fi from WAP (b).

3. Both WAPs setup with same SSID and Password as main sky router.

Any views/help

@sdawnwIt is very unlikely this will be a reliable set up, links to mini boxes can be tenuous anyway. However if you want to try it make sure your switch is a basic unmanaged one as managed ones do not play nicely with Q.

Also as you have Sky as your broadband provider the WAP need to be dual band.

Had Sky not been your broadband provider this definitely would not have worked.

Yes, WAPs will be dual band and switch will be unmanaged.

Though more difficult to do, would it make a lot more sense to Ethernet the mini box?

@sdawnwAs Sky is your ISP, the most reliable way is to run Eternet from your hub to the main box and from the mini box to either the hub or main box (although if to main box you would need a switch as the boxes only have one Ethernet connection.

A further question ...

our contractor has identified that it will be very difficult to get an Ethernet cable to one of the mini boxes. However, as there is currently a coax cable to the location, he suggests using Moca Ethernet over coax adaptors.

Has anyone done this with Sky Q, or does anyone know if this will work?

@sdawnw Haven't tried it. But, someone reviewed it on Amazon here and said it works with Sky q. Although it's not clear how their setup differs from yours.
