HDFury Arcana Lip Sync Cure

Has anyone tried the HDFury Arcana to solve Lip Sync issues when feeding a Soundbar/Amp from the eARC output of the TV.

I have an increasing irritation with variable lip sync. It isn't huge, enough to irritate the hell out of me but not enough to make the family complain.
Watch SkyQ using TV internal speakers and everything is fine. So for once not an actual Sky Q problem. Watch from TV tuner or onboard apps on TV using Soundbar and everything is fine. Sky Q through Soundbar, Sonos Beam connected to eARC, and lip sync varies. Adjust it to be correct but then it's out and then back.

Looking at various threads it seems to be a common thread that TV's, of pretty much any make, have issues maintaining A/V sync on eARC when viewing external sources.

There seems to be one repeated fix for it, putting the HDFury Arcana between the external source, Soundbar and TV eARC. But at £200 it isn't cheap.

So wondered if anyone had tried it.

It is a 4 input 2 output switch.

The Arcana takes the HDMI from the source, feeds it to both the Soundbar and the TV but still allows the 2 eARC ports to communicate as if the Soundbar was connected direct to the TV.

I have diagrams on the HDFfury website that use the Vertex 2 upstream of the Arcana to support multiple inputs but still need the Arcana for lip sync issues,

Hi. I have just got a Sonos Arc and the SkyQ lip sunc issues on HD/UHD channels is very irritating. Was thinking of getting the Arcana but have heard on Trusted Reviews that there are some issues with sound cutting out when you press the home button or not working properly with TV apps if the SkyQ box is turned on. Is this still an issue with the newest updates? Thanks.

Hi.
I have not had any of those issues.
The only slight 'annoyances/difference" I have is:

1. If I turn off the TV, the Sky Q audio keeps playing on the Sonos. So I have to turn off TV and Sky Box.
2. My Samsung TV doesn't have the fancy icon for sky box as a source device, just the generic icon, that I had to change label to 'Sky'.

but to be honest the audio is flawless now, so happy I purchased this as was getting really annoyed with it before.

hope this helps.

@jay1381 where sound lags the video it is very difficult to sort as delaying video requires some serious kit.

The issue is that the video and audio are in sync leaving the Q box but the two signals follow different paths in the TV before the audio is output either over the HDMI ARC or optical output which introduces the lip sync issue. The HD Fury Arcana spilts the two signals routing the audio over HDMI to your Sonos ARC. Port and the video directly to the TV.

Normal advice is to connect the Q audio directly to the audio device which is easy where the device has a HDMI input and video pass through to the TV. Where that is not possible you can sometimes us the Q boxes optical output. This can be clunky to control but normally sorts the issue. If you have a limited numver of inputs then you can buy optical switching units to avoid plugging and replugging the delicate cables. Optical also does not carry Dolby Atmos your are limited to Dolby Digital 5.1 over optical. Hencecthe market for the Arcana

Newer TVs with eARC capabilities dont have this issue. I had a Panasonic set made 5 years ago where the ARC was unuseable its replacement LG OLED is far better even though it does not fully meet the eARC standard.

Hi been following this thread. I have a Samsung Q950a soundbar, Sky Q with UHD and Samsung TV that has ARC. I can control my soundbar via the Sky remote, but like others as soon as I turn on Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital + I get lip sync issues. I'm not sure if I'm e enough getting Atmos Output. Now I was thinking like others getting the HDFury Arcana to resolve both issues. One question I have is HDFury talks about having a special HDMI cable, but wondering if the one supplied with the Sky Q box is suitable. I already have an 8K cable for my soundbar. Any advice or help I'll be grateful for as this is really getting on my nerves 😀

I just used my usual hdmi cables and it was fine. Lip sync issues sorted but there are some querks like sometimes sound continues after turning off TV, sound stops for a few seconds when I press the home button and when I turn on the TV, the picture appears then stops for a few seconds (get a message on the TV saying input signal is not working) but does return. Overall happy with the Arcana but really shouldn't be necessary to spend another 180 on top of the 900 sonos arc when my (quite expensive) OLED tv is only 4 years old.

The majority suffer from lip sync issues with the SkyQ box connected to the TV first which is then in turn connected to a soundbar. The usual workaround is to connect the SkyQ box directly to the soundbar, which usually resolves this. The Q950A has two HDMI inputs so it has the physical connections to be able to do this.

Not sure what model of TV you have, I have a Q90R TV connected to my Q900A soundbar via its eARC port. With the recently leaked beta firmware for my TV everything now works as it should with the SkyQ box also connected to the tv. Where as before the eARC update I had to connect the SkyQ box to the soundbar to avoid any lip sync...

My Q90R is 2019 so the same age. If you connect your SkyQ directly to the soundbar then you will get DA. However using ARC (rather than eARC), you won't get native Dolby Atmos, however it should be possible to use Dolby Digital+. DD+ is capable of carrying encoded Dolby Atmos (albeit not without compression), so that may also be an option for you.

I have a samsung Q950t soundbar and I also find no trouble with lipsink as long as the sky box goes to the soundbar first. If i connect sky to the tv first then soundbar it does look slightly delayed, not much in it to be fair though, i had to switch back and forth a few times to notice a difference
