Hello I split up with my ex girlfriend 12 months ago sky q is in my name but I left it there for her and she is paying for it but I'd now like the boxes back but she is refusing to give them to me as she says they are hers as she is paying for the service what can I do please

Give Sky a call, it's a difficult one tbh, they will require the boxes back. If she is paying from her bank account, and the boxes are not returned then she will get the bill.....

If it's in your name, in theory you can cancel the services, which will generate a request for the box(s) and equipment to be returned.

You are the account holder so they are yours in name, the fact she pays for it doesn't come into it as Sky are not bothered who or how the bills get paid just as long as they do. If she refuses you will have to call Sky, not sure what they will do though.

Then if he cancels the services (which I would do immediately, if it were me) and she doesn't return the boxes then the subsequent bill & The associated costs generated would be billed from her account, I'd assume.

@Mr+woodley id call and make Sky aware of the situation that you no longer live there, cancel the services.

Have you considered going out with her again? Then you can move back in and get your boxes. That is probably the easiest solution.

@Mr+woodley The first thing to do is get the equipment back. If you cancel the subscription without first gettnig the equipment, your ex could just not let you have the equipment back and you would have to pay the non-return fine.

Before you try that, you could call Sky and ask if they would change the account holder that way she could keep everything and it would be in her name.

I would think there has to be a way to switch who is the account holder without having to return everything and taking out a new service. What would happen if I died? The account would be in my name. My wife would need it in her name.

They're not hers or yours.

I assume that she just wants the box (rather than paying for a new sub instead) because it has all her recordings on it?

In which case, ask Sky to transfer it to her and just start a new subscription.

Sky do not allow transfer of names on accounts unfortunately. This is part of the T's & C's. @Mr+woodley You would have to return the loaned equipment then your ex would have to open an account in her own name.

Sky unfortunately cannot change the account holder. As the contract is in your name and the equipment is loaned to you, if she is refusing to give them to you it would be a matter to take up with the police.

@Mr+woodleyas has been said, the important thing is how she is paying for it, if it is coming out of here account by direct debit then if you cancel it as it is in your name the service will stop which may make her do something.

Next Sky will send a demand for a non return payment, if the box has not been returned, to the address where Sky think the box is, if this is not paid Sky will deduct the money from the account where the direct debit is.

So it really depends on how it is being paid for may influence how you handle it.

I would just stop the account as otherwise it will just drag on and if you stop the account the box will be of no use to her.
