why do recordings get deleted

hi,

Im am getting so frustrated with sky I think I am going to cancel subscription as am getting no satisfaction. eg. I have recorded series link for Kin and the last episode is gone. I watched it and left it for my husband now its gone and cannot be undeleted. All other episodes are still there. this has happened before with other shows. not downloaded ones but programmes from the tv guide. When I leave a programme and go back in to find it, it has dissappeared???? It is not in deleted ones either as that is empty, why it is empty I dont know as I regularly delete stuff also. I think paying a monthly bill your progerammes should not be deleted especially episodes in the middle of a season. I'd say something if they were the first few.

@CatmpProgrammes often get deleted if the licence expires however rarely the latest one. I don't know which channel this was on but have you tried catch up.

Are you sure that the last episode was actually recorded by your box as there should be no reason why it would be deleted if you didn't do it. You might be able to find it on catchup though so have you checked to see if it is available ?

I once had a recording not show when I was sure it had recorded.

I may be wrong but I think it did appear after I did a power down reset of my box which can clear up errors on the HDD

Thus it is probably worth doing such a reset to see if the episode you are missing re-appears - it probably won't but I think it is worth a try

Use the remote to place it into standby mode

Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)

Wait at least 30s

Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

@Catmp I have just tried searching for Kin all that come up is a film on Sky Store. If Kin was a series it looks as though it has been removed.

I could not find it either, the only reference I could find was an Rte. programme, I can't see from a PC but was this an Irish only programme and the poster was from Ireland. More a guess than anything.

It does seem to be available via various streaming services but not via Sky.

It may be on Rté player.

@Catmp Maybe you've run out of disk space and the programs in question were automatically deleted to make room for whatever you were recording/downloading.

I watched the last episode, but when husband went to watch it, it was gone. I degi itely did not delete it.

Thanks, but its not on the player it was recorded by series link. Yes its an irish programme.
