4K football/4K HDR

I'm pleased to see that the Premier League matches will be shown in 4K HDR this season. Can someone hopefully confirm that I will be able to record these, or will the HDR (HLG) feature only be availble when watching live (as was the case with the BBC during the Euros)? Also, are there any plans to show Championship matches in 4K HDR? Many of last seasons matches were in 4K so hopefully 4K HDR could be the norm now. Having said that, I notice that tonight's Bournemouth v West Brom match is only HD for some reason.

@ianmerseyside There is no reason why you can't record Sky UHD matches as these are delivered by satellitte unlike the BBC UHD content which were via the iPlayer.

I suspect it may be because Eurosport is using the UHD/HDR feed for the Olympics at the moment

This weekend the two UHD channels are being used by the F1 Spanish GP and the other for the Olympics. That's why the cricket hundred/test match won't be before anyone asks.

Surely Sky can afford more than 2 UHD channels? Maybe they could save costs from wasting in other rubbish. After all they do charge us vast sums of £££

@Super+Anthony Transponders cost money, lots of money, all the other rubbish you refer to unless it's on a Sky Named channel has nothing to do with Sky.

Paramount to start with... they only done that to keep them happy and ignore the customers. Am sure sky can afford them with the inflated prices they charge us and constant price hikes

@Super+Anthony Regardless of what Sky do ther is always some bleating about it. Obviously if your not happy with Sky you can choose to go elsewhere, there are alterntives you know. No one is ever forced to subscribe to any service if they are not happy.

You can please some of the people some of the time but none of the people all the time.

Sky need to give more to the customers. Yes you are right but it's the same at Virgin or BT. They are all the same

At what cost though? Increased subs, customer would complaint about that, so they are in a no win situation. They give more people complaint it's not enough. If they gave more UHD channels and subs increased people would complain.

There is cost to provide extra content, regardless of who provides it or which studios get invloved.

That's exactly what they're doing with the Paramount+ and Peacock deals - giving more to the customers for no extra subscription charge...

There's no HDR feed from F1 though yet, so Sky can't broadcast in real HDR here.

There was an internal test by F1 from the British GP, but no news on when an actual feed will be available.

Maybe they are upgrading it to enable HLG and Atmos now the football season is starting.

There is only one UHD channel being used this weekend and that is for the Olympics coverage this is due to preparations for the new PL season next week.

The other channel will be off and on all weekend for internal tests on some of Sky's live sport content, It was decided that rather than publicise some of the Cricket and EFL football being in UHD this weekend and then problems occur it was deemed safer just to broadcast in HD

I expect that's because of the technical issues they seemed to have had with the sound on the opening PL matches in the last few seasons.
