Sky SIM only plan

I am looking to take out a SIM only plan so i can pop the card into my Tablet?Phone so I can watch my SKY tv in my work breaks.

I am a TV subscriber.

Can i get a data only deal.

From what I have understood i need 50gb to get myself started even though the streaming is free?

If the streaming is a part of the package then why is 50gb required and how much would that reduce over time?

@algoodal All Sky sims are data plans. Although they have free calls attached. Plans start from £6 per month Pay Monthly Contract & Sim Only Plans | Sky Mobile

Thanks, i understand that but id only be using it as a data tablet to watch my TV sky package. What i am trying to get at is,

Do i need to subscribe to a monthly 50gb plan or can i start with a 50gb plan then reduce it to say 3gb?

You can start with whichever data plan you feel suits you, you can change your plan every 30 days and use data from your piggy bank to top up any usage you need.

Thanks, but it states in the info that 50gb is required in the piggy bank. I understand i need data to get 4g reception on the device and to run the Sky go app. The streaming is free from data usage (not used at all).

How much data would be used from the 50gb in the piggy bank to run the app?

Would it till function on 10gb left in the piggy bank or even less?

@algoodal I think you are overthinking everything, regardless of what is in the piggybankyour data on the sim is what is important, any unused data rolls in to your piggy bank. If you need more then you can retrieve it in 1GB chunks, as long as you have data in the piggy bank you can use what is there (to the nearest 1GB).

Im not overthinking it pal, read below. Looks asif 50gb required to run the app and free use of streraming, If it drops below 50gb then the streraming burns into the gb limit.

Don't have Sky TV? If you've got Sky Mobile but you don't have Sky TV, you can watch content from Sky apps that don't require a subscription (like Sky News), without using your data.

Useful info & tips

You need at least 50MB of data available in your allowance to use Sky Mobile Watch. If you haven't got enough, you'll need to add more before you can watch Sky content.

To top up your data:

Sky app use (streaming and downloading) within the UK only. The Sky apps and content you can access will depend on whether you're a Sky TV customer and what Sky TV package you have. Streaming adverts before and during on demand content, and watching ads within some Sky apps might use your data allowance. See the 'Sky TV subscription' section below for more information.

You may be correct, as i am a sky subscriber it looks like I will be ok. The 50gb look as if its for non tv subscribers.,

@algoodal It is still 50MB, not GB you are misreading the allowance.
