Potential eMail Scam Message

I have received an email purportedly from Sky inviting me to register for an upcoming event.

To register I have to give my full name ,email address and mobile phone number.

Why would I need to supply Sky with information they already possess?

For the time being I,m regarding this as suspicious unless ,of course ,anyone else has an explanation.

My email client Thunderbird automatically blocks remote content but on examining the remotes one of them is listed as:-

res.newsletter.contact.sky

Any ideas or am I being paranoid?

@popacatapetal Was this in relation to Sky Mobile by any chance? The email is genuine.

Just to back up what @GD1 has said @popacatapetal , if this was related to Sky Mobile then you can be safe in the knowledge that the email was actually from Sky.

The title of my message should have mentioned Sky Mobile which is why I posted it in Sky Mobile Section of this forum.

I'll see what happens when I register.

dot sky is a legitimate TLD owned by Sky Group through Sky International AG and used for some publicity purposes including mass emails.
