If the box is placed vertically behind your TV, the top and bottom of the box will be against the TV and the wall respectively which could impact ventilation and cause overheating or other faults.

I'm sure others will come on to argue it's fine for them, so the choice will ultimately be yours.

Hi, has anyone hidden their sky Q box behind their tv on a tv wall and know if i will need or what kind of 'sky eye' i will need so the box will still pick of the remote signal? TIA

Hi @Beckyboo20

I suspect many have minis behind their TV.
As the Q remotes are Bluetooth they don't need line of site and so should work OK

Edit

My main concern would be adequate ventilation

Thank you so much! Im having a chimney breast stud wall built to put my tv and fire on i was thinking of getting the sky Q tv bracket to put it on the wall behind my tv (tv will be on a pull out bracket) Ive seen other posts where people have done it but its making me worried now about the ventilation and making sure this is safe

This is perfectly normal practice (trust me I've done loads) the only people who refuse to do it is infact Sky Technicians, they flat out refuse to install boxes behind tvs but if you have the boxes, YES! Do it yourself ☺

Unless you have excellent WiFi I think your inviting trouble. Just read all the posts from people who can't keep the minis connected and these are in the open.

We would not recommend this, Sky boxes should be flat on a surface and not not vertical, they should have good airflow and have good WIFI coverage, if against a TV for instance this will reduce the WIFI connectivity of the box due to the metal parts in the TV.

I've had this little bracket for ages and it works a treat!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07F3CBPJX?ref=myi_title_dp

there is better air circulation in my opinion as the air is free to flow all around rather than top surface only, just sayin 🙂

You seem to be on a proper sales pitch today...

Just been reading the comments I plan on having an insert for the box beneath the tv on a media wall. Can I ask if you had to get longer leads for your box and aerial as I don't think mine are going to be long enough

@Scot2Only do this if you have enough air circulation as Q boxes can overheat.

Unless it is a V2 box with a seperate power unit the mains lead is a standard figure of 8 (C7) one you can buy various lengths.

For the coax extension get a "satelite extension lead kit" many different lengths available.

Try Amazon, ebay etc etc.
