@Msp68You can't connect by WiFi, the mini box will only connect to the main box by using its own mesh, nothing to do with your home WiFi and uses 5Ghz Ch36.

However if you have a Black dish near to your mini box you can connect the mini box by Ethernet to it. If you have got the Black disk via a halo contract with BT ask them for an additional disc (it included in your agreement) if there is not one near your mini box.

BT Smarthubs do give some setting up problems due to clashes between the Sky mesh and your WiFi

If you want to try connecting via the mesh there are some things you can try with your smarthub.

Turn off Smart in the BT hub (almost an essential with smart hubs)

Split the frequencies in the hub. (can't with the SH2)

Move the 5Ghz channel as far away from Ch36 as you can.

If none of the above work you can also narrow the bandwidth in the Q boxes. From 80 to 40

In desperation try turning off 5Ghz in your hub setting up the mini box and then turning 5Ghz back on.

I have a BT smart hub 2 providing my home Wi-Fi network. The main Sky Q box is connected to it via an Ethernet cable. I didn't get a good Wi-Fi signal everywhere so use BY Wi-Fi discs to boost the signal.. am I able to connect the Sky mini box to the BT Wi-Fi or will it only connect to the main Sky Q box on a separate network?

That's for such a detailed reply greatly appreciated. I'll try Ethernet from the disc to the box

@Msp68

When connecting a mini box by ethernet, you will need to go to Settings / Setup / Network / Reset, and at step 2 of 4 on screen, DON'T press any WPS buttons when prompted as this will override the ethernet and will try to connect wirelessly again. Instead just let it connect on its own which takes around 30 seconds. This ensures that the box is properly connected by ethernet.
