Customising the Home Screen

Is there any way to xuatomise what Sky Q suggests on the Home Screen?

I'm one of those old school guys (think The Likely Lads in that classic episode), who likes to avoid the football results until the highlight show (Match of the Day) is on in the evening. But if I turn the TV on, the Home Screen displays all the scores from the big games, which impacts my viewing experience (if I know the score I dont really enjoy the program).

Is there any way to select what Sky suggests on the Home screen? Be handy to remove the football from it.

Nb. I'm aware pressing power on/Home takes you to the aforementioned Home Screen while pressing the Sky button takes you to your recordings, but sometimes when scrolling from TV guide to recordings, or vice versa, its easy to overshoot and end on the Home menu, so simply not going into that section isn't a practice suggestion.

MThere was some customisation on sky plus, so by default that will mean pretty much sky won't allow it on Q. There was a choice between kids and sports being near the top of the menu iirc

the ability to move desired "rails" nearer the top would be nice but dream on, although they can do it. You just got to make them want to

Ah that's a shame. Guess I gotta be super careful in future... gotta get used to not pressing the power button to switch on!

Does anyone know how it 'tracks' what to suggest? As I have Match of the Day as a series link, does it then assume I want to see the scores? If, for example I series linked NFL, would it then start to show NFL options? If we watch lots of movies will movies potentially replace it? Does that make sense?

I don't know if everyone gets different selections, I keep getting a selection of sport related things and I have never watched any sports.

Ah, ok then. Its not world-ending to be fair, just an annoyance, so I'll have to try to get into the habit of turning the box on with the SKY button, not the power button (the latter being handy as I can press and hold one button to turn the TV and Q box on)

I'm more than annoyed. I have logged an official complaint. I don't pay an extortianate amount to Sky each month for their sports coverage only for them to be the ones who spoil my Sports viewing.

Let's hope the powers that be, see sense or they can wave goodbye to a Sky Sports subscriber of over 20 years.

I don't understand the problem, I've never seen the football results appear on the home page, and I do watch a fair amount of football

@RuzhyoP @Yes but if my memory serves me well didn't the England game get called off in that episode and replaced with highlights from the ice skating? 🤣

@Neil1973 sorry but none of what you said makes sense? if you are subscribed to sports i don't see an issue with them advertising it? they are no spoilers so what is you exact issue?

Would a Sky Cinema subscriber be happy for them to advertise 'who did it?' before they had chance to watch the movie?

@Neil1973 unfortunately any trailer does this, hence i try to not watch them. I don't see spoilers for any of the sports? do you mean highlights?

OK, the scenario:

You've recorded a full length football match earlier that evening. So now you decide to watch it. You Press 'Sky' to start navigating your way to your recordings...but then you're instantly greated with the following, unavoidable home screen...and with that, your evening's Sports viewing is now ruined.

@Neil1973 you need to wait for it to be cleared by mods. Have you tried using your Voice remote control ? this will start your recording without going in to the sports screen.

That is a good shout and is a workaround I myself can use.

My only problem is, the whole family use Sky Q, kids and all - so I'd be asking everyone to use Voice Control for everything until I had watched the match.

But thankyou, I will use that method and ask the family to avoid the dreaded 'Sky' button.

For me, the issue has been a recording of a full length match and avoiding the 'Spoiler homescreen' which has 'Premier League Highlights' and the scores clearly in view. There are many others though who prefer the match highlights, whether that be Match of the Day or a few years back, Football First - which is sorely missed. However, I'm not sure I know of any sports fan who would want to find out the score moments before watching the highlights either. So they have no option, if they wish to select it, but to view a thumbnail image revealing the score.

Sky really need to look at the logic behind this. Thanks for your help though @seandouglas2, it's much appreciated.

@Neil1973 Also to add if you press the " SKY' button on the top of the remote this will take you directly in to the recordings bypassing the home screen
