Swap sky q 1tb box for a box with 4k uhd capabilities?

I currently have a sky package that includes the HD and UHD subscription. However, I only have the 1tb standard sky q box so I am unable to utilise the UHD subscription. Is there anyway I can upgrade my current box to a UHD box free of charge? I have recently made a couple of changes to my subscription, added sports, Netflix etc and I wasn't offered to upgrade my box at any point? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just checking - are you certain your 1tb box isn't a UHD-capable one? If you go to the resolution in Settings, is 2160p an option?

@Briggers2005 Are you getting it mixed up with HDR? I though all Sky Q boxes were UHD (not the Mini's of course)?

@GD1 the original 1 TB were not UHD capable.

The v1 2TB (as mine is) can support UHD but not HDR

@Rhonny No, I only have the option upto 1080p. Its the standard 1tb box. I have a Ultra HD and HDR compatabile TV so I am currently viewing at 1080p and HDR plus. I would like a box that has the Ultra HD capabilities to get the best viewing possible considering I am paying for it! 😊

No I have the standard 1tb sky q box there is also a 1tb and 2tb sky q box available with uhd

@Briggers2005 I think the only way to upgrade for free would be to negotiate an extension to your susbscription (if at a suitable point) & even then they might not

When you do get a UHD box, make sure it's NOT a version 1 box as that didn't support HDR. (v2 and v3 boxes, and newer 1tb boxes, all support HDR so you'll get the best UHD, when content is available in UHD HDR.)

And also, turn off HDR+ on your TV as that fakes HDR, so if you currently watch any built-in apps on your TV, you're not going to see any of them in actual HDR. Nor will you see actual HDR on content from the replacement Sky Q box with that setting activated.

Almost certainly not free as others in a similar position have been charged. Apparently stock levels aren't good, and you'd have to phone.
