Recording F1 in UHD

Good morning, I have just tried to set next weekends F1 qualifying and race to record in UHD but I was only able to set Saturdays qualifying to record in UHD When setting Sundays race day to record there is no UHD option only HD and SD

Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone tell how I can record next Sundays F1 race in UHD please?

Hi @Alllyne Why didn't you set a series link on the Qualifying, then Sundays race will also be recorded.

I probably can't help but I have the UHD version set with a Series Link and both Quali & the race recorder OK in UHD last week,

THe upcoming GP this week is se to record Quali & I have no doubt that it will record the race.

I think part of the problem is the race itself in UHD is Pre-Show, the Race & Post Show all in one show and thus doesn't match the HD programmes.

I had a look in the 'better in UHD' section on sports and the race does not currently show - not sure if it will after Quali (or just nearer) the weekend.

All I can suggest is to set to record Quali in UHD as you did last week & make sure the series link is on.

With over 4 years experience of F1 UHD series link recordings it has never let me down. However it is a Mexican stand off some weeks and I have learnt to wait until Thursday evening before the series link schedule appears!

This issue with F1 UHD is seriously annoying! Firstly there is no longer any quick way to record in UHD like there used to be before the recent Sky "upgrade" and today even if I go to the "much better in UHD" section the qualifying programme shown only HD - even in the "better in UHD" section. And the race show is not even listed. Last weeks race shows had no options whatsoever for UHD and long UHD Sunday programme (pre race show, race and post race show in one continuous UHD) we used to be able to select did not exist. So annoying that Sky change things and it goes so wrong.

@Mickypd I agree it can be quite difficult to find & set the UHD recordings.

However, on my box currently (as at 15:33 on Fri 30/10) in the Even Better in UHD I currently see Practice 1, Qualifying & indeed the race on Sunday (5h starting at 10:30) all showing as UHD

My Box recorded all Practice sesssions, Qualifying and the race last week all in UHD (I have the series link set on)

UHD sport recordings have become extremely difficult since Sky got rid of the dedicated UHD tab in the "Sprts" menu. Who on earth would know that to find and record in UHD you now have to go into "Sports", "Featured" and then scroll down to "Even better in ultra HD".

please Sky bring back the dedicated UHD tab!

By the way, if the "Evrn better in ultra HD" section still does not give you the option of UHD (as happened to me) it could be that the TV settings are not set to UHD. I've learnt that if you turn your Sky box off/have power cut, etc. the box, when restarted, defaults to factory setting normal HD - once again, who knew???!!

to fix - go to Settings/set up/audio visual/picture resolution and select 2160p

@Mickypd Glad you have got the bottom of your problem & hopefully your post may help others suffering.

With the way that Sky change the UI you really do get the impression it is not being done by people who 'know' their customers & on the (perhaps incorrect) assumption that they do have real users test their changes you wonder whether they have a decent enough cross section.

@MightyQuinn Correction to your post Sky Q was available February 2016

4k UHD wasn't available on release day

The only 4K content available was football August 2016

F1 has been broadcasting in 4K since 2017 so three years according to my calculations

But for me F1 HD whever on Sky+HD SkyQ or via Channel 4

Series links have worked without issues.

I tried using the voice search option saying UHD sports and managed to find and set Sundays race to record in UHD

My box is Q 2TB

I USE VOICE SEARCH as I saw that idea somewhere and it worked.

Sadly Sky hide this very successfully and heaven only knows why!,

I have just setup recording F1 qualifying and race series in UHD.

I highlighted the qualifying section to the record screen then chose other showings which presents live formula 1 screen which gives 5 channel options to record. Ultra HD is one....don't forget to highlight series link also... hope this helps.

I have just setup recording the race in UHD by going thriough the following route:

Sky Home -> Sport -> Featured -> Live Sports This Week. Keep scrolling to the right to find the race in UHD and select it. Once selected, you can set a Series Link using the 'Add series link' button.

I did this on Saturday morning and not sure when in the week it appears. Seemed to work though.

@Sky - this is horrible! There really needs to be an easier way of doing this. It's just far too hidden from the user at the moment.

@Invisiblename But this doesn't work for the race. Try it. Go to the Race program tomorrow at 12:30 and select the 'Other showings' option - UHD isn't there. You onlt get SD and HD. Unless I'm doing something wrong?

@Dark-Knight you need to choose the (HD) show starting at 1:55 the UHD option is off that even though it begins with the pre-show starting at 12:30
