I keep getting a message that there is a network proximity issue with my Mini boxes but I don't understand how. I have my 2 mini boxes connected by Ethernet and not by WiFi. Is this happening anyone else? It's happened several times this evening alone and simply rebooting the box works. Other devices on Ethernet or WiFi are working so there isn't an issue with my internet. It's a brand new system that was only installed on Thursday past.

@Anonymous

Did you reset your network on the minis when you connected the ethernet cable as it doesn't automatically use ethernet without doing so. You may also have made the mistake of pressing the WPS button on the main box when prompted on screen by the mini box. This overrides the ethernet and tries to connect wirelessly again.

So on each mini, go to Settings / Setup / Network / Reset, and at step 2 of 4 on screen, DON'T press any WPS buttons when prompted. Instead just let it connect on its own which takes around 30 seconds. This ensures that the box is connected properly by ethernet and the drop outs should stop.

You can then turn off the wifi on your boxes. Go down to Settings but don't press Select. Instead type 0 0 1 Select to open the hidden menu. From there you can turn off the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi. Then press Confirm.

When the engineer set up the first mini box it was connected by wifi (the second box was posted to me and arived later in the day after he left and I set it up myself through ethernet). I wasn't aware that if I plugged in the ethernet cable that the box would still only operate over wifi. I have now changed the settings on the main box and the two minis to turn off the wifi and then turned them off at the wall afterwards and fully rebooted them one at a time. They reconnected after being switched on and are now working again and wifi is still off in the settings menu, so hopefully that should stop the proximity dropouts, fingers crossed!

I've found It's all down to the signal strength. Needs to be above a certain range ( roughly 120mbs) to reach back to main box and have a stable signal and functionality

I'm getting to the stage where I am going to go back to Sky+HD ... I cannot run a cable from the mini to the router and instead have ethernet to one of my mesh satellites... but this is proving unreliable and rendering the mini as unusable.

Very frustrating as there are a lot of deatures I like about Sky Q ... I think I will just have to wait until they improve how it works with 3rd party mesh networks...

Are you still hitting the proximity errors @Dazmeister ?
