New menu awful

We have virtually no Internet. So why does sky q start a download when we click continue on the recorded program page? Now, we have to ignore to presentation and scroll down to the program list. Dreadful. Also, after watching don't delete as most often the selection at the top is not what you just watched. Seriously considering cancelling subscription due to the repeated auto download option.

Hi @Psmagus

Have you switched off Auto Download next Episode in Home - Settings - Setup - Preferences.?

Also when finished watching a recording it is the next Episode shown at the top.

Hopefully this may be changed in the future.

Thanks but it's already set to off. The issue is the first page of your recordings. The fist thing you are presented with is continue which instead of playing the episode starts to download the same as you have recorded already. Ridiculous when its already there. Just return the menu to what is was before this update. Its almost unusable as currently designed.

@PsmagusI can't send any logic in it is too easy to delete the next programme rather than the one you have just watched.

I no longer look that way, I just press the Sky logo (yes it is a button) it goes directly to recordings and either play or delete from there.

If I click on "Reckrdings/continue" in the menu on the left, it just moves across to the first entry in the page of recordings. Doesn't start any download.

So, tghank you for all the answers. However, the issue is simple and not resolved until SKY decide to get their act together:

When you press the SKY top button, you see what you have recorded. When you scroll down your program list and select something, the top item appears. It ether says continue or play. if its continue and you click it, it always starts a new download of the same episode you have already taped. This is the issues as we dont have a decent internet and this uses up all our bandwide and monthly allowance.

clearly, no though for us poor peolpe who cannot get internet services. there are millions of households without a decent internet. SKY should not just assume we can download everything even if its already taped.

seriously would ditch SKY if there was a viable alternatinve. we only really have it for F1.

@Psmagus I agree. Mine does this. I don't have the problem with limited internet but this aspect of the interface is very badly thought out. Unfortunately we just have to hope that someone at Sky realises this and changes it.

This didn't happen on mine via that route either

Sky button. Went across to the right to find a TV show on the 2nd row of tiles (all the others before that were movies.)

Hit select

hit "continue"

it just started playing from the point it had last been watched?

It doesn't do it every time, mostly it seems to be programmes recorded off Sky channels. The last one I can remember was Mare Of Eastwood. Although I'd recorded the last episode, when I hit play on the top row it started to download the recorded episode.

It seems as though it doesn't recognise the fact that the programme has been recorded and so decides to download it instead.

If I've already started to watch something it NEVER does it.

I've just done exactly what you described and it just played the episode that was listed - no additional download occurredNot sure what we are doing differently

I did say it was random in my original post - thats why its so frustraiting. Some times its fine, other times it starts a download. I think its to do with the exact type of recording eg series or one off's and even what channel.

And it's not ones where you have watched close to the end of an episode and it's trying to get the next one and doesn't realise it's already recorded?

p.s. you didn't say it was random in your original post but you're absolutely right that some of the menus are a mess.

No - these are 100% unwatched. That said, thre may be something in this as maybe the very start may have been 'watched' before record was pressed, but certainly this is not the general case. its very random - hence why it catches us out.
