SkyQ and Sky+ LNB

I had Sky Q installed this week's about 6 months after ordering.

I explained to the engineer we have Freesat in 2 rooms but only using one, via a sky box. This alongside the main sky+ box.

Looks like we got a quad sky q lnb by default which is great, I can see the 4 cables connecting...but the sky box acting as Freesat box won't work...

Anyone know what's going on,? It appears it should work as we have 4 cables coming out of the new lnb.

I can't find much on line about the sky q 4 lnb other than some references to the other two parts being the legacy ones. Is this right that we have 2 q wideband ports and 2 std ports, not 4 wideband ports?

What's also odd the sky/Freesat box gets the initial programme guide and displays no signal and is showing no signal/not locked etc.

I'm kicking myself I only tested the sky q before the installer left, I was doing other jobs and didn't think...Calling sky can be painful especially with none standard issues so if I can sort this myself I would like to... Obviously I don't want to wait 4 months for an engineer either and the hassle that goes with all of this

I believe the Sky Hybrid LNB that you need to watch Freesat, has six outputs not four.

@MishroHybrid LNBs only have 2 outputs that work and are needed by Q. If there are 4 leads it depends where they go. as if your freesat boxes including the +HD are recording ones they each need 2 feeds so it looks as though only one may be connected. There are hybrid LNBs with 2 +4 but I don't know if Sky supply them or only the 2 + 2.

The fitted LNB definately has 4 connections

2 Definately work for sky Q

The other 2, 1 was working for the Sky Box operating as freesat...which now is not working.

Thats the problem - are the other 2 the legacy ones that should allow freesat and therefore not working (for unknown reasons) or are they also for Skyq - which means i need a gen3 freesat box, new LNB or something else

@MishroThe two that are not Sky should work fine with a +HD box as a very basic freesat box, can you get a good view of the LNB to see if the 2 non Q leads are definitely connected and not just left in place but not connected.

The EL027 two Legacy output port Hybrid LNBs are locally available to Sky engineers, I understand that the EL028 four Legacy output port Hybrid LNBs have to be ordered from a central store.

Is that literally an 028 with two connections left off to save 50 cents on manufacturing?

I never knew there was such a thing ; )

The casting of my EL027 would not support the EL028 extra Legacy output ports;

so it's fixed

im going to go with total power down. I plugged in the plus box and it worked, re plugged in the sky mini box and it then worked!

sky movies on sky q isn't working now, but small wins
