Considering moving from Virgin to Sky for fibre broadband and TV.

Currently our house only has Virgin connections for TV / Broadband. Has anyone been in the same situation and had confirmation from Sky that this can still be used by them? I saw something by googling that Sky has access to Virgin lines but just want to check with the community on this before committing to a switch.

Thanks

Openreach does not have access to virgin infrastructure in fact virgin tend to remove all signs of openreach equipment. So best keeping vm up and running and cancel when sky confirms a date. Tell sky you might need a new phone line to be on the safe side

Yes, Sky broadband would be available to you with a new line and broadband package. The speed that you would likely be 80Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream on Sky superfast FTTC (VDSL2) via a new copper telephone line.

The infrastructure is different in that it would come from BT Openreach and broadband provided by new copper twisted-pair into your house, and luckily you are very close to the BT Openreach cabinet in it offering the maximum speed for the FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) 80/20Mbps and new twisted copper telephone cable to your premises.

This replaces the Virgin Media broadband system which comes down co-ax cable but usually, the system is left in place but disconnected from the VM infrastructure whilst you are using the BT Openreach system.
