Absolutely: typically the problem with cable work in a duct (particularly when it's already populated) is that it's really difficult to predict at the start if the task is going to be straightforward or not, and so calculate whether or not it is likely to disrupt the other appointments scheduled for the rest of the day.

Hi.

I am due to get fibre installed and have a question about the installation. My copper line rises through a duct located in the floor void just below the master socket location. Will the fibre be able to be routed the same way? I have no external walls anywhere near the master socket location that can be drilled (brick steps and multiple corners mean there is no way to drill straight through). Do Openreach still have teh option to install single cable from the street to the ONT? I already have internal ducting installed at the master socket location that can be used to route the fibre to the point I want to install the ONT at (same wall as master socket, but at ceiling height rather than floor height)

Worth remembering that the location of a master socket has no particular relevance to FTTP: it just becomes an obsolete box. I guess it's possible the Openreach team could consider using your duct if it's easy to access and to get a new cable drop through, but they won't be happy if it looks like it's going to take longer than they have allocated for the job. The connection itself is typically a single fibre strand in a pigtail fusion-spliced at the external CSP.

think I may not have been clear enough. Can OR still do installation without an external CSP?

I have no suitable point for installing a CSP external to the house. The existing Copper enter the house through a duct which rises internal to the property.

Can this be used for Fibre installation

should say that the existing copper duct in the original OR duct that was installed at the time of property construction

@Whitestar22 The teams that install the fibre do not usually take into consideration where any current master socket or copper cable is routed. Generally they tend the route the fibre to the nearest point on the property that is closest to the street run fibre as far as i am aware, and there is a limit to how far (for example they wouldn't route it right round the back of the property).

I highly doubt they will start to feed a fibre cable all up through existing ducting.
