Got my replacement glass

Hi all.

TV was replaced due to vertical banding. Was it bad? Yes it was as it was very prominent during day to day scenes. Sky were ok accepting the return however back office error this and that meant I waited a week to get my replacement. So quite poor there in my opinion.

Il attach some pictures of the before and after. There is still some vertical banding however this is no longer seen during films / gaming.

This wasn't the only difference. Firstly I straight away noticed the speakers sounded ever so slightly deeper and as a result more basey. This isn't just my hearing as the other half noticed it as well. To confirm I could hear base on my older tv as well. Though just more here.

Local diming. I mentioned this the other day of it not doing anything and for some reason it's started working. Not sure if it was due to the way I was testing however I was now able ever so slight blooming on a test video and turning on and off caused the display to go from bright to slightly dimmer on a HDR video.

It's running the same software version as previous so I'm stumped.

Do you have to have the viewing mode in custom as opposed the presets for local dimming to become active?

HDR clips off YouTube. Noticed SDR didn't yeiled the same effect.

At first however I had it enabled and was wondering tweeking some settings with the video in the back round. I changed TV contrast down by 1 and the whole screen went very very dark. Even the Xbox I used to play the videos pop up menu went really dark. This changed when it went back to the home screen however persisted until I reset the settings.

I only use custom.

Sure nothing crazy on my end.

For HDR

Backlight 100.

Sharpness 0

Colour saturation 65

White balance cool.

Will be fine tuning over time but I haven't messed with any of the colour space.

I'm on QS002.08.0.

So playing with it last night it appears that local dimming gets stuck.

I've been managed to get it unstuck by moving the contrast levels and turning it back on. It

It doesn't completely turn off the LEDs however it improved it for me.

Tell me more about the BASS. Can you notice a difference when the bass boost is on for example?

I feel it depends on the context of the content your watching.

Can I hear a difference? Yeah I can however iy doesn't make the base any deaper. It's like it moves the sound stage lower making some of the mids low.

Best way to describe it.

Track I noticed it on was "astronaut in the ocean" on YouTube
