Buying a sky glass tv from ebay

Would anyone happen to know if I can subscribe to Sky Glass if I buy a second hand Sky Glass tv? As it is only a 30 day rolling contract with Glass I am unsure how this would work?

HI, thank you for the reply, that was my initial thought but there are 1 or 2 appearing on the ever popular bidding site and thought it would be a lot cheaper that way. I have had no response from Sky themselves when enquiring.

@Dgamble Hi i think it would be wrong and potentially damaging to you if anybody said yes go for it on here.

Only sky answer whether the initial linked acccounts can be fully removed and you have an acccount setup to work with the Glass.

@Dgamble I would be highly suspicious of cheap Sky Glass TVs on ebay as Sky give a 100% refund to any unhappy customer without question for 31 days. Many of the sets were bought on interest free credit deals so could be being dumped to make the seller a quick buck. While Sky cannot repossess the set they may not allow it to be connected to a new user to discourage the practice. Bit of a gamble.

However you maybe lucky and Sky go after the seller who will enjoy the delights of Sky's debt collectors or the set was really "won in a competition" but personally I would want to see proof.

Strange I saw 2 on Ebay too, one was reporting they won it in a prize draw and had never used it and another that finished with a buyer but then a day later it was back on the site so either the buyer got itchy feet or spoke to sky who knows!

My suggestion is be careful. As with all these things there are good sellers and bad sellers on eBay. When I spoke to Sky they said (i) all Sky Glass TV's are linked to a Sky ID and on start up come up with that previous owners name/ID and to secure Sky Glass services on the TV the previous owner and only the previous owner can pay for the services (inconvenient) BUT (ii) if the previous owner has paid off and terminated their Sky Glass contract (or if the TV is won in a raffle) then when the set is booting up it will not come up with the previous owners name and the new owner can register the set with their own Sky ID and apply for a new Sky Glass service.

This is all very new. But there will be mechanisms in place to address legitimate change of ownership because the Sky Glass TV's can be purchased without Sky Glass service.

But be careful I bought a 65" inch Sky Glass TV set off a (100% rated) eBay scammer who sent me a bunch of worthless leaflets by Royal Mail special Delivery to evidence delivery of the Sky Glass TV so he could get paid by eBay. When questioned the scammer then said oh well of course I am sending the Sky Glass TV separately. And I then received an empty Sky Glass TV box by UPS. Or rather I intercepted the empty box he had sent to a completely different address in an attempt to get proof of delivery and make it difficult for me to evidence his criminal methods.

So unless you are really sure of the sellers pedigree it is probably better to buy off Sky direct there too many fraudsters on the Bay
